"I Echo the Victory"

A Centennial Triumph of Liberty and the Month of Revelation.

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. – James 5:16 (KJV)

Today, I rise in grateful agreement and echo the victory proclaimed in Will Estrada, HSLDA Senior Counsel's, powerful message. What a moment to celebrate—what a reason to give God glory!

To the Faithful Homeschool Families of Illinois:

We did not flinch. We did not fold. We fought—with prayer in our hearts, purpose in our steps, and the armor of God upon us.

Our diligence, unity, and unshakable conviction helped defeat H.B. 2827, one of the most aggressive attacks on homeschooling liberty this nation has seen in decades.

Make no mistake: Illinois Democrats faced a powerful giant. We rose up as a force to be reckoned with, mama and papa bears, fiercely protecting our right to educate our children our way.

What they intended for our harm, to control us, God used to awaken a remnant army of parents, advocates, and watchmen across this state and the nation. We rose up—not with fear, but with holy fire—and drew a clear line: Our children belong to God, not the government.

This victory belongs to every family who made calls, sent emails, showed up, sounded the alarm, and stood boldly for our God-given parental rights. I believe we have stirred up something very powerful in Illinois, and we won’t back down.

June 1, 2025, we stand on sacred ground—both historically and biblically. Historically, we mark 100 years since the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Pierce v. Society of Sisters (1925), a foundational ruling that reminded America and the world that “the child is not the mere creature of the state.”

This decision fortified parental rights as a constitutional cornerstone, affirming that parents, not the state, hold the primary responsibility and authority to raise and educate their children.

Today, as Illinois homeschoolers rejoice in the death of H.B. 2827, a bill that would have criminalized our God-given liberty to educate our children according to our convictions, we are reminded of this enduring truth.

We fought back not just with strategy, but with Spirit-led conviction. We stood shoulder-to-shoulder across organizations, with intercessors, parents, pastors, and policy leaders, and the Lord gave us victory.

But God didn’t just mark this moment with legal significance—He marked it on His calendar.

We are in the biblical month of Sivan (June), the third month on God’s Hebrew calendar, the sixth month on the Gregorian calendar. June (Sivan) is a month of revelation, covenant, commissioning, jubilee, freedom, and restoration. It was in this month that the Torah was given at Mount Sinai, as recorded in Exodus 19–20.

The Israelites, just freed from Egyptian bondage, were about to receive the divine instruction that would form them as a holy nation set apart for God’s purposes. What a parallel!

We, too, in our generation, are being re-commissioned—as families, as the Church, and as a movement—to be set apart, reject Pharaoh’s systems of indoctrination and embrace our call to train up our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4).

In June (Sivan), God spoke from the mountain; today, He speaks through His people, by the Holy Spirit, declaring once more that children belong to Him—and to those He gave stewardship over them: their parents.

Let us not mistake this as merely a legislative win. This is a spiritual victory. H.B. 2827 was a demonic attempt to criminalize obedience to God’s design for family discipleship. But the Lord, rich in mercy and mighty in battle, has turned back the enemy at the gate (Isaiah 28:6).

And yet, the battle continues. The enemy will return with new tactics, just as Pharaoh’s armies pursued again. But we are not a people of fear—we are people of faith. We have been warned and awakened, and now we must be watchmen.

Let this victory stir us, not to complacency but to continued mobilization.

Let us train, equip, and send forth an army of families prepared not just to protest but to exit and dismantle this educational monopoly, building and creating God-fearing Arks of Safety for this generation of children—rooted in Scripture, inspired by Pierce's legacy, and mobilized through June's (Sivan) prophetic mantle of revelation.

This is not just a win for homeschoolers.

This is a Kingdom win.

This is a Parental Rights victory.

This is a Pierce v. Society of Sisters legacy moment.

Let us teach it to our children and proclaim it boldly in our generation:

The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it. – Psalm 68:11 (KJV)

We rejoice, we regroup, and we rebuild the walls—because God is not finished, and neither are we. The enemy is not finished; God has declared it in His Word, promising victory over all the forces of hell. “We Won’t Back Down.”

We rejoice. We stay prayerful. And we remain vigilant. The battle is won, but the war isn’t over—yet today, we celebrate the victory.

Educationally yours,

Latasha H. Fields
